RIBWC is a member owned corporation of doulas who accept insurance in Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide a collaborative shared service for a birth worker network supporting families in RI.

Are you a doula interested in joining RI Birth Worker Co-op?

This doula owned cooperative was created to share the administrative load of billing and contracting, while maintaining our autonomy as community doulas who do not work under other healthcare supervision. This protects the autonomy of families that we serve.
Our founders, Quatia Osorio, Susie Finnerty, and Elyse Wilkie are working together to create the structure of this cooperative. We opened our doors to membership in November 2021. We would love to have you! -
The RI BirthWorker Co-op is owned and run jointly by its members, who share the resources & benefits.

Members who would like the RI Birth Worker Co-op to do the billing for them can sign up for $60/month. This includes HIPAA compliant software to store client information, billing services from our awesome staff (checking eligibility, sending claims, claim denial/error follow up).
Entering a perinatal visit on our portal is quick and easy-our administrator does the rest! Payments are direct-deposited in your personal bank account.

Members of the RI Birth Worker Co-op maintain their independent practice. They do not work for clinics, hospitals or other healthcare facility. -
The RI Birth Worker Co-op prioritizes the cultural, ethnic and religious values that identify the needs and desires of the collective members, to practice and operate in ways that resonate with their community.

SUPPORT THE MISSION
The Rhode Island Birthworker Co-op is sustained through the collective efforts of its members and the support of community partners and sponsors.
Sponsorship contributions help offset the cost of membership and provide scholarship opportunities for doulas. Particularly BIPOC doulas, who may otherwise face barriers to joining the co-op. This support plays a direct role in expanding access to the resources, billing infrastructure, and collaborative network that allow doulas to build sustainable practices.
By supporting the co-op, sponsors help strengthen a model that prioritizes shared resources, professional sustainability, and increased access to care for families across Rhode Island
